These two are good little helpers most of the time. When I asked Big Sister to help chop some food for dinner her little shadow wanted to be involved as well. They looked so adorable sitting there together focusing on their work!

Scooter practice on the way to the park tonight. It was nice to see her having fun and making some headway on her scooter skills!

It was kind of fun sneaking into her room to take pictures of her sleeping. Just call me Secret Spy Agent Mommy! It would have been a much easier mission if she hadn't been sleeping against the wall. You would have laughed to see my pregnant self trying to maneuver myself to get a shot!

This was one of her favorite parts of today. I love the little unexpected adventures a day can bring.

This is some of the only physical proof I could show you that I tried to be a fun mom this week. I promise I really did try to make her last week of Break fun! Well, as much as a pregnant mother with a toddler who naps can:) She seemed to look forward to our Origami time together and I really loved those moments with her! Even if the instructions made my brain hurt.

The girls received some toys at Christmas that they have been routinely shutting off the lights to play with. While I have enjoyed the unexpected peace that comes with the lights turned off, I really enjoy watching them play in a different way. They have been having so much fun that I have been wishing I could get some shots of them in action. I was inspired to give it a go after reading this amazing article on the Clickin Moms Blog by Megan Dill. I had a lot of fun and enjoyed letting go a little and embracing a little noise in my images. I have a feeling me and my camera will be up late at night more often now.

Some days with my girls are crazy . . . well most days. I get to the end of most of them wondering if my oldest even likes her mom.
Today I asked her if she wanted to go outside and take some pictures with me. She played mommy's game and carefully cradled one of our succulents in her little hands while I took some shots.
Tonight I stayed with her awhile as she lay tucked in bed. She is a chatterbox and I usually have to remind her its time to be quiet or she won't fall asleep. As she jabbered on I asked her what she wanted to be when she grows up. She said, "A Mommy, because I love you so much! I teared up then, she couldn't possibly know how much that meant to me or how much I needed to hear it. As I look at this picture I get choked up again. What I really see is not a succulent but my heart in those precious little hands of hers.

Oh, how I love each and every expression and interaction that my camera can capture. It has the amazing ability of being able to stop time. It helps me see my life clearer and more fully some days. I try to make sure I am a part of my life and not just a person behind a lens--but as I look back at pictures taken I feel like I can slow down and study my children in a way I often can't in the moment. They just change too quickly and I can't keep up! Today there were highs and lows . . . but today I will remember that they were pirates!

I rushed to get out the door and luckily we didn't miss this last peek through our neighborhood trees! I went back and looked at my before and after edit because I couldn't believe these colors! All I did was decrease my exposure a little post-process to create more of a silhouette of the trees. This was a perfect ending to a long day!

I set up my tri-pod tonight and took some pictures with my girls reading bedtime stories. This one just grabbed me because this captures her right now perfectly. She is reading so well and so proud to be able to read stories to us each night.
